It’s time to make your paintings far more interesting with this fabulous tutorial. Turn beautiful backgrounds into a unique painting by adding a dragonfly and hints of bubbles on top!
I have often been asked how I paint the delicate wings of a dragonfly and here I show you for the very first time how I do just that. Never demonstrated before, by me. I have been asked to share this technique for some time so please pick up your brushes and see what magical little flying subjects you can create. By the way, the bubbles add that additional hint of a fantasy painting. To me the whole point of creating is to relax, have fun and enjoy working with colour.
Your challenge? To simply smile while you are creating and achieve the most delicate gossamer wings that you can. And of course, delicate see through bubbles. Following this demonstration do paint new compositions using different colour combinations for backgrounds. You can find ideas for these from my Dancing Ladies and Creative Wash demonstrations. Try studying real dragonflies so that you can paint the many different fascinating varieties. Remember, one simple demonstration can lead to many wonderfully exciting new paintings. The magic is in how you interpret it!
